PFC Christopher "Bart" Bartkiewicz

On Sept 30th I lost one of my best friends here due to sniper fire. I was the medic that treated his injurys. Bart was a great man and a loving father and husband. He was one of our brothers and will be missed. I just wish you could have know him. Rest in peace brother.

Chris was a wonderful Son,Brother and Nephew as well as a great father to his 3 children. Chris was like the son I never had and a brother to my son even though they were Cousins.I can remember visiting Chris would always be the first to greet us, I did't even get the car door open and Chris would be there with a hug and a kiss He Loved His family and they all were important. Chris will forever Missed.

I am Emily's Aunt Theresa and from the moment Chris moved to Illinois and joined our family we made an instant connection. We called ourselves the out-laws! He and I could sit and talk for hours and many times we did just that. I will forever miss those talks and his laughter. I was fortunate to have been able to talk to him the Friday before he passed. I made sure he always knew how much we loved him and how proud of him we were. He gave the extreme sacrifice for this country and we will be forever indebted to him. He was my HERO. I am proud to have known this incredible man. I will forever hold him in my heart, never to be forgotten. Stand down Chris, rest in peace in God's arms.

I wish Chris knew how much everyone cared about him, and how much of an impact he made in his life. To lose Chris so early took a lot out of my heart, I remember the last thing he said before we hung up on our last convo. was "you better come up to IL on my leave and drink with me and I have to go but I love you and call you soon." I'm thankful he was able to be brothers to his close friends/soldiers over there. We love and will always miss him. Thanks Eric for making this tribute to him.

I am the mother of Chris' oldest daughter Casey Hatley, who never had the chance to meet him. She was deprived of knowing the wonderful man he was. I wish she would have had that chance. We know that he is looking down on all his children right now. We love you and we always will.

Even driving back from Illinois today to North Carolina, and other family leaving there as well, it's the hardest thing knowing I won't ever be able to see him again. Seeing the whole town on the street yesterday with their hand over their hearts when riding by them to salute-the fire dept raising the biggest flag I've ever seen and much more being done in honor of this country and what Chris represented made me cry harder. We love you all and want yall home too. Take care.
